The Risk Oversight organization within Global Risk,Banking, and Compliance (GRBC) is responsible for identifying and managing riskacross all processes and geographies at American Express.
The incumbent will report to the Head of Risk EMEA,Spain Chief Risk Officer (CRO), and support the CRO on establishing the secondline of defense for the newly created legal entity in continental Europe.
The incumbent will identify, assess, measure, andmanage risk across all processes. The incumbent will be responsible forconducting independent risk assessments, providing effective challenge to firstline teams, and ensuring that significant risks are promptly identified.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct quantitative analysis on risk management datato drive insights and recommendations for first line teams
Conduct independent reviews of risk processes andprovide effective challenge to first line teams
Identify risk metrics (e.g. key risk indicators) tocontinuously monitor and oversee risk
Establish governance process to collect data andinformation to support the Risk Appetite Framework
Develop risk committee charter and produce monthlyescalation materials.

Qualifications

Business acumen with a risk-reward controlperspective;
1 to 3 years of experience in financial services andrisk management is a plus;
Experience in interacting with regulators andfamiliarity with local market regulatory requirements is a plus;
Project management experience is a plus;
Proven ability to learn skills and knowledge on demandin a compressed timeline;
Excellent organizational and time-management skills tosuccessfully drive results timely in a fast paced environment with constantlychanging priorities;
High degree of attention to detail and strong track recordwith data and report accuracy;
Excellent inter-personal relationship skills and ahighly professional approach for interactions with all levels of management andacross business units;
Self-directed individual who can work independentlywith minimal supervision as well as in a team environment;
Fluent in English and Spanish, and outstanding writtenand verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish;
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software includingexperiencing building and using large-scale reports and databases such as usingpivot tables;
Advanced degree in Business, Engineering, Legal, MBA,similar field of study, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
