The role is based at our fabulous DAR Community Centre facilities, where we will offer a stimulating program of care for 2 - 6-year-olds, taking full advantage of our unique and unrivalled setting and facilities.This is an entrepreneurial opportunity to make a mark and fulfil our stated ambition of providing cutting-edge Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED). This is an inaugural role, so we welcome applications from people with Big Ideas about developing and delivering next-level early years experiences for children and their families.Key to the role will be designing and implementing a world-class curriculum that both delights kids, provides fun learning experiences and offers something different to families.ABOUT DAR KIDSDAR Social Club and Community Centreis an extension of the charity initiativeDAR KIDS, which in turn is a child-centred project of the Spanish charitable non-governmental association,DAR.Founded by Lola Smolokowski in 2022, the DAR Kindergarten's mission is to bring something unique to local families - a holistic setting where our children get to safely explore, discover and grow in their own way, at their own pace. You can read more about Lola and her teamhere .In terms of location, we are centrally located between Javea, Denia, Jesus Pobre, Gata de Gorgos and Pedreguer and are easily accessible from N-332 and Carretera Jesus Pobre. The DAR centre is set at the foot of the Montgo, with views over the Gata de Gorgos countryside and benefitting from a climate described as "one of the healthiest microclimates in the world" by UNESCO.ABOUT THE ROLEThe DAR Kindergarten is a brand new initiative, and is due to open Spring 2024 (dependent on the minimum number of reservations being met). We are looking for an experienced and qualified Head of Kindergarten, whose job it will be to join us on this journey and help bring the vision to life.We aspire for our Kindergarten provision to be at the cutting edge of ECED, and the essence of the role is to push the boundaries to continue fulfilling this ambition, leading our Kindergarten team of assistants in a hands-on, supportive style.The leadership responsibilities and duties are broad and all-encompassing:Ensuring that the vision for the Kindergarten under the School's ethos of Love, Care, Fun & Inclusivity is clearly articulated, shared, understood and effectively acted upon by everyone at DAR Kindergarten.Integrating into the curriculum the latest ECED research findings and best-practice learnings from effective ECED programmes in the UK and abroad, modelling these practices for staff.Maintaining and continuously increasing the quality of all aspects of provision to ensure pupils' optimal development and results, including indoor and outdoor teaching and learning, catering provision, napping arrangements, etc.Leading, motivating, supporting, inspiring, challenging and developing staff to continuously raise standards.Nurturing our culture that promotes friendliness, excellence, equality and high expectations of all staff and children.Creating a safe environment which is conducive to learning and to professional excellence; this includes assumption of the day-to-day responsibility of the site for health and safety and safeguarding matters.Evolving the Kindergarten offering to meet the needs of working parents, e.g. in terms of wrap-around care offering, drop-off/pick-up times, minimum number of sessions, etc.Ensuring that the Kindergarten's organisation and processes are well considered, efficient and fit for purpose and that resources are deployed accordingly.Tasks include liaising with the Director on admissions, allocating key persons, ensuring ratios are met, covering absences, establishing rotas, etc.Planning for progression across the age and ability range, ensuring that appropriate curricular targets exist for each child within the group of children and that they experience a personalised educational programmeEstablishing fair, respectful, trusting, supportive and constructive relationships with childrenPromoting positive values, attitudes and behavioursABOUT YOUWe welcome a range of applicant profiles and experiences, and our "ideal" candidate will likely meet many or all of the following requirements:Leader: Have the skills and personal flair to build and motivate a first-rate team of Kindergarten practitioners who harmoniously work together to deliver "best-in-class" provision under the umbrella of Love, Care, Fun & Inclusitivity.Innovator: Think out of the box, scavenge for fresh thinking and new ideas and be proactive in integrating them.Entrepreneur: Be a 'doer' who can develop and practically implement new offerings and processes.Ethos alignment: Share our commitment to holistic learning, an individualised approach to child development as well as our belief that love and care are prerequisites for a top-quality education.Educator: Possess superior teaching skills with a demonstrable track record in achieving excellent learning and developing the curriculum.Early Years passion: Love young children and possess the gift of working with them, finding ways to engage their imagination and innate sense of fun, energy and enthusiasm for learning.Early Years expertise: Hold education-based qualifications and have at least some, and preferably an extensive and deep, knowledge of ECED pedagogy, principles and research.Safeguarding: Be fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children.Team player: Be supportive of colleagues, bringing them on board to work together towards a common goal and not being shy of 'mucking in' and leading by example.Communicator: Sensibly and effectively communicate with adults and children both verbally and, crucially, also in writing.Personality:Have drive, energy and enthusiasm.
