NoOffer DescriptionIQUADRAT INFORMATICA S.L (IQU) is a technology company founded in 1997, focused on delivering system-level evaluation tools for wireless networks.
IQU R&D provides solutions and services in the use of Internet and Telecommunications to companies and institutions using information and communication technologies in various domains.
The R&D department is involved in many National and EU-funded research projects, with extensive know-how in 5G/6G communication platforms, IoT platforms, and Demand Response algorithms for the Smart Grid.IQU's R&D department is looking for three Doctoral Candidates in the framework of the Marie Curie Doctoral Network EMPOWER6G funded by the European Commission. You can find more information on this project at EMPOWER6G.
The Doctoral Network is led by IQUADRAT and comprises top European partners in the field such as ISI Athena, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, IS-WIRELESS, Chalmers Tekniska Hogskola, National Technical University of Athens, Infinera, SIAE Microelettronica, NVIDIA, and Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.EMPOWER-6G is a newly launched Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Network offering fifteen (15) PhD positions in eight European countries.
The project aims to develop a converged optical-wireless architecture that enables an efficient 6G Cell-Free (CF)-based access network for achieving 1 Tb/s peak data rate and supporting advanced user services (e.g., holographic telepresence, advanced AR/VR, massive digital twinning).Minimum RequirementsMust hold a Master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, Math/Physics/Statistics or a related fieldTrack record of research excellenceGood communication skillsPlease include your internship availability in your applicationCandidates must also meet the following criteria:Be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers;Be of any nationality, but not having resided or carried out their main activity in the country of the host institution for more than 1 year in the past 3 years;Have not yet been awarded a PhD degree.Languages: ENGLISH - Level: GoodYears of Research Experience: 1 - 4Additional InformationThe Doctoral Candidates (DC) will enjoy attractive employment conditions and competitive salaries offered in Marie Curie Doctoral Networks.
The selected DCs will join top-class research groups and have a unique opportunity to pursue a career in wireless communications and networking.
Working on this ambitious research project could lead to the successful completion of a doctoral degree, along with a strong joint multidisciplinary research training program in the field of wireless and optical networks.
The planned mobility among eight EU countries and ten institutions is an added advantage of these positions.Selection ProcessYou should submit your CV through a dedicated site:This position targets to optimize the operation of Distribution Unit and Near-RT-RIC through ML-driven resource scheduling, and to develop CF-enabled central-unit and distribution-unit components in the form of RAN VNFs, integrating CF high-PHY function.Position 2: Coordination of closed-loop ML control mechanisms at all network tiersThis position aims to optimally deploy Software-Defined Transport Network Controllers at the fixed segment of the EMPOWER-6G architecture, enhancing operations of the controllers and coordinating control mechanisms across all tiers and technology domains.Position 3: Intelligent traffic engineering methodologies for converged optical-wireless networks with CF supportThis position focuses on developing traffic management and load balancing algorithms for both fixed and wireless users, investigating traffic re-routing procedures to minimize power consumption and maximize resource utilization in the EMPOWER-6G network.
