It takes imagination to create green energy for the generations to come.
At Siemens Gamesa we make real what matters, join our global team.We are looking for a self-driven Intern to develop an internship and to support our Loads Modelling Department in Madrid on Turbine Computational Fluid Dynamics, mainly but not limited on Vortex-Induced Vibrations.
As Vortex-Induced Vibration (VIV) support, the service will include analyzing and mitigating vortex-induced vibration effects on turbine systems through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of a funded project that are developed by the Technology Department.Being an Intern in Siemens Gamesa is an opportunity for you to develop your personal capabilities and build a professional and international network.
You will get the chance to enhance your professional development and get relevant work experience in a global company.During the internship, your tasks will consist of:Investigating Fluid Solid Interaction phenomena affecting Wind Turbines such as vortex shedding and its impact on turbine performance, structural integrity, and overall system stability.Performing CFD simulations to analyze vortex-induced vibration and/or other relevant phenomena potentially affecting Wind Turbine systems.Identifying potential areas of concern and propose design modifications to effectively mitigate vortex-induced vibrations while collaborating with the design team to optimize turbine components and configurations.Providing technical expertise and guidance to cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, researchers, and designers, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing among different departments.Validating simulation results through comparison with experimental data, state-of-the-art literature and industry standards, ensuring accuracy and reliability of the analysis.Staying up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in turbine design and vortex-induced vibration mitigation techniques, actively incorporating relevant knowledge into project work.Documenting and communicating findings, recommendations, and design modifications to stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making and project progress tracking.Ensuring adherence to project timelines and deliverables, managing multiple priorities effectively to meet project goals and milestones. What you need to make a difference:A recently graduated student in Aeronautics, Mechanical engineering, Structural engineering with Master on the field or are in final stages of Master Thesis.Experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations, specifically related to aeroelastic phenomena (vortex-induced vibrations, stall-induced vibrations, etc.)
demonstrating an understanding of the underlying principles.Additional training or experience (master or complementary courses) in wind energy: Wind turbine aerodynamics and performance, wind resource, wind data analysis.Knowledge of wind turbine design standards is a plus: IEC61400-1, DNVGL.With initiative, analysis skills, self-motivated, self-improvement, willing to learn, emotional intelligence and ability to team-work.Proficiency in programming languages, especially in MATLAB, enabling automation and data analysis is a plus.Fluent English, both spoken and written.
