The Flight Physics center of competence is a trans-national organization, responsible for the non-specific design activities that are used for the detailed design of the aircraft components. Within Flight Physics in Spain there are five areas: Aerodynamics, Loads and Aeroelasticity, Mass Properties, Aircraft Performance and Flight Physics capabilities.
You will be joining the Mass Properties domain which is responsible for the mass information for all the Airbus Commercial product portfolio. We deal with activities from managing the weight of an aircraft through its design cycle to supporting customer services and the negotiation of weight performance targets with the airlines. We have a mixture of theoretical activities, such as mass estimation of novel aircraft configurations to practical activities such as weighing components with our suppliers to aircraft weighing with our customers.
In the Spanish team we have been primarily responsible for weight estimation & control activities on rear fuselage empennage (RFE) and we have a new way of working on end to end processes. You will be expected to strengthen our team into assist to all activities that are performed in the team and support transnational domain development in the frame on data analytics. You will clean data, perform analysis and create data visualizations. You will propose solutions in order to simplify way of workings for end users. Additionally, you will support the team on weight estimation and calculation of weight, center of gravity and inertia whilst taking care of the impact to the product. You will participate at transnational meetings in order to align on goals and objectives for wiki arrangements. One of your challenges will be to significantly increase the content of the wiki with relevant and useful articles and gain commitment to deliver relevant input. You should be inspired, energized and able to reinforce the local team to champion mass properties, to innovate and shape together Airbus products.
You are enrolled student in Engineering and you have following skills:
- High level of mathematical ability in order to analyze, model and interpret data
- Problem-solving with methodical and logical approach with accuracy and attention to detail
- Python and ability to learn new programming languages
- Highly motivated and collaborative team player with personal initiative, reliability and responsibility.
- Well organized with communication skills in a multi-disciplinary and transnational environment.
- Technical writing skills which are free of errors, correct tone, style and format.
- CATIA, MS-Office, G-Suite – knowledge is a plus.
- Fluent English (written and verbal) – documentation and reports are solely in English.
Successful applicants will possess a good technical knowledge of aeronautical fundamentals and analytical ability, able to apply knowledge to unfamiliar problems, but also proactively, teamwork and communication skills.
