Job Description
Frontend Development
Our Frontend Engineers will be on the forefront of bridging the gap between web and app. Youll use modern technologies and frameworks like Typescript, React, GraphQL and Apollo, and the latest web standards in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and Ruby on Rails, to develop large front-end web applications that scale and perform well on all devices. And you will develop our app experience through React Native.
Mobile Development (React Native)
Our Mobile Engineers work along with designers and product managers to build and launch new features for our apps. Youll work on our large-scale app that serves millions of shoppers. Our teams are working with React Native so openness to cross-platform mobile development is a must!
Youll work across disciplines and are excited about building human-centered experiences.
Qualifications
A few things we would like you to have:
Expertise in Javascript, HTML, and CSS or languages used in mobile development (Swift/Objective C, Java, Kotlin).
For front end engineers, proficiency with at least one Javascript component framework/library (Vue, React, AngularJS, or similar) and a strong knowledge of modern CSS3 (Flexbox, Grid).
A passion and curiosity to constantly learn new things; Shopify changes fast, and we need people who work here to be able to change and learn fast too.
Experience with working in a cross-discipline environment with designers and other engineers to produce and vet ideas through prototyping early concepts.
Itd be nice if you had experience with:
For mobile engineers, experience with React Native is nice, but not necessary!
Performance optimisation and any tooling to support auditing.
Server-side development and MVC frameworks (e.g. Laravel, Rails, Django)
Typescript (or Flow).
GraphQL.
