Forming part of one of agile development teams, the Software QA & Automation Engineer does not just “do testing”, but owns the challenge of driving forward a mindset where everyone in the team is responsible for quality, being fully involved throughout the development lifecycle and leading by example to promote best working practices such as test automation – with the goal of delivering superior quality and high-performance websites which delight our users. Responsibilities: Work collaboratively as part of a small, cross-functional agile team, actively participating and contributing to agile events as appropriateDrive a whole team approach to QA, mentoring and coaching other team members in the different test approaches, tools and techniques – such that the whole team can contribute to the ultimate quality of deliverablesTogether with the team, establish, and update as and when required, an appropriate Definition of Done for the teamWork in conjunction with the team to properly refine and estimate user stories, contributing towards establishing proper acceptance criteria for user stories and test strategies to ensure satisfaction of acceptance criteriaClarify product requirements, identifying risks and helping the team to manage these risksEffectively participate in practices meant to ensure that defects are identified and eliminated as early as possible in the development process, such as:Pairing with developers in QA Kickoffs to jointly prepare testing notes prior to implementation of user storiesPairing with developers in QA Demos to jointly review completed user stories and ensure that they have been tested properly and nothing was missed in terms of requirementsTeam-wide blitz testing exercises to ensure that quality is up to standard before making a releaseEstimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities, including identification, tracking and documentation of defectsEstimate and develop testing strategiesDesign, create and execute test cases as appropriate to ensure satisfaction of acceptance criteriaDesign, create and execute test cases as appropriate for different test phases and approaches such as smoke, functional, regression, exploratory, stress and performance testing among othersDevelop test automation architecturesDesign and implement automated tests as appropriate – automating the boring stuff so as to focus on higher value activitiesIdentify defects or inconsistent operation and determine steps to reproduce, using defect tracking software – Jira – to document, track and communicate test results and issuesDrive and contribute to defect resolution, reproducing and investigating identified defects, supporting and facilitating the team in the testing of related fixes and updates to ensure correct and timely defect resolutionProduce and maintain testing documentation, including but not limited to test cases, test scripts and test data such as performance baselinesParticipate and assist in release decisions Requirements: Excellent written and verbal English communication skillsPrevious experience in software testing (5+ years) is a mustISTQB certification would be considered an assetMotivated with a collaborative mind-setWell organized with superb attention to detailDemonstrates critical, quality-oriented, sceptical thinking about productThorough understanding of the software development lifecyclePassion for quality, and knowledge of what it takes to ship high quality codePrior experience working in an agile environment would be a plusStrong knowledge of software QA methodologies, processes and toolsSolid understanding of testing strategies that encourage clarity and remove bottlenecksExperience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test casesHands-on experience with both white box and black box testingExcellent knowledge in performance, load, stress, security and reliability testingKnowledge and experience with LAMP based infrastructures and WordPress based websites would be idealExperience in website testing methods and techniques such as cross-browser compatibility testing and website performance testingComprehensive domain knowledge in designing test frameworks and test suitesHands-on experience in test automation, including tools such as Selenium, Ranorex or Katalon, would be awesomeStays abreast with the latest testing techniques, strategies and tools
