Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Backend Developer to lead our growing backend team. As a Senior Backend Developer & Team Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, design, and development of our backend systems. You'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies such as Kotlin, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL, and lead a team of talented developers to build scalable and robust solutions that drive our product forward.You would work directly under the CTO and CFO who are responsible for development and product-market fit, respectively. Language:The current team speaks in English together in team meetings, however the CTO is Spanish. Responsibilities:Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the backend development team, driving best practices, code reviews, and ensuring high-quality code delivery.Architectural Design: Collaborate with the engineering team to design scalable and maintainable backend architectures using Kotlin, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL.Development: Lead by example by actively contributing to the development of backend systems, writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code.Team Management: Manage and mentor a team of backend developers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Project Management: Work closely with product managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements, prioritize tasks, and deliver features on time.Code Reviews & Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, performance optimization, and security best practices. Implement and enforce quality assurance processes.Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations to improve the scalability and efficiency of backend systems.Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for backend systems, APIs, and integrations.Monitoring & Maintenance: Implement monitoring solutions and perform regular maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability and availability of backend services.Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, QA engineers, and DevOps engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.Requirements:Proven experience as a Backend Developer, with a strong focus on Kotlin, Spring Boot, and PostgreSQL.Demonstrated experience in a leadership or mentorship role, preferably leading a backend development team.Strong understanding of backend architecture, design patterns, and best practices.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset towards identifying and resolving technical challenges.Experience with Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).A passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends.Company Overview:We are a PropTech startup with customers in the United States within the real estate sector.
