St. Joan of Arc, a Roman Catholic parish of 1,800 families located in Toledo, Ohio, is seeking aDirector of Liturgical Music. This full-time, salaried position is available immediately. Starting date is negotiable.Primary responsibilities:Playing the organ and/or directing the parish choirs at liturgies including four weekend parish Masses, weekly school Masses, holy days, funerals, weddings, and otheroccasionsDirecting weekly choir rehearsalsPlanning all liturgical music and developing worship aidsMaintaining the music library and instrumentsMinimum qualifications:Proficiency on the organStrong choral conducting abilityExcellent organizational and communication skillsThorough understanding of the Roman Catholic liturgy and standard3 years experience as a parish music directorBachelor's degree in music preferred, although candidates will be evaluated primarily on ability and experienceGood vocal abilityExperience directing a handbell choirThe parish's instruments include:Three-manual Allen digital organYamaha grand piano5 octaves of Malmark handbellsMusic ensembles:20-voice adult choirhandbell choircantorsSalary will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
