InstitutionALBA is the Spanish synchrotron light source, a large research infrastructure operating ten beamlines, complementary facilities, and an Electron Microscopy Center, this last in partnership with other institutions. Currently constructing multiple more beamlines, expanding the Electron Microscopy Center, and integrating advanced data analytics, it sums up a wide range of infrastructures geared toward finding solutions to societal challenges.Located in Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain), it is funded by the Spanish Government (Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación) and the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya, Departament de Recerca i Universitats). Highly customised and efficient access to 69 infrastructures is coordinated via a single-entry point and enabled through comprehensive Science and Innovation Service by senior scientists, experts for the transfer of technology from academia to industry, and highly trained Junior Scientists. The Junior Scientist boost RI experience to an entirely new level: they provide customised Science Service supporting users from initial ideas to hands-on experiments, data analysis and dissemination of results to generate the greatest impact from access to world-class RI.Hosted at ALBA, you will participate in research carried out in different facilities, occasionally travelling to assist in experimentation, and collaborate with international scientists from very diverse disciplines and backgrounds, enormously expanding your experience and professional network.At ALBA you will join the group interfacing synchrotron beamlines with operando and in situ (scanning) transmission electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopies. You will be able to carry out your own research and participate in ongoing projects in collaboration with others. This is a diverse, highly interactive team acting as linker between the different beamlines, electron microscopy, and scanning probe microscopy teams.
