We Offer: You will be part of the Transported by Maersk Platform Portfolio focused on streamlining and automating container shipping operations through advanced software solutions. Our software products are used by customers, Maersk's operations front-line staff, and vendors assisting with Maersk's operations across the globe. We aim to reduce manual processes to a minimum and enable automated planning and execution of operational decisions.
You will join one of our highly capable product teams, with members in India and Denmark and work closely with business and technology colleagues to build the analytical backbone of our equipment management application enabling the business to optimize the use and flow of empty containers around the globe. As a Data Engineer, you will be building, maintaining, and operating our data and analytics products in collaboration with other team members. You will be taking part in architectural discussions, and actively engaging with stakeholders from both business and technology to align expectations and remove roadblocks. Dedicated product managers will work with you to convert business needs into technology solutions.
We believe in empowering teams and individuals to make the right technology choices, supported by architectural guardrails that align with Maersk's technology strategy and cyber security practices.
We use modern engineering practices, do pair-programming, and take on the full DevOps responsibility for what we build. We primarily use technologies such as Python, Pandas, Spark, Databricks and Kafka, rely heavily on open source and build software we deploy using GitHub Actions and Docker onto Kubernetes clusters, operated in the Microsoft Azure cloud.
Our platform organization is geographically distributed, with engineering teams in Denmark (Copenhagen), India (mainly Bangalore and Pune), Spain (Algeciras), Portugal (Porto). We offer work at Maersk's office in Porto and value being together in the office but are also open for remote working. Key Responsibilities: · Care about data. Think of it as a product that must continuously evolve to improve. Use this to produce high-quality data as a foundation for our products by building and improving data pipelines on top of data from source systems.
· Have a continuous focus on providing business value, while ensuring technical sustainability (including maintainability, reliability, performance, and availability).
· Work with data and analytics experts to expand the functionality and possible use cases for our datasets that meet functional / non-functional business requirements.
· Promote and drive adoption of cutting-edge data engineering practices within the team.
· Ensure high quality and low cycle times through modern development practices and automation.
· Maintain infrastructure to develop, test, and run our products on MS Azure
· Engage in discussion on technical design and architecture, both in your team and across Maersk's Communities of Practice
· Collaborate with product owners on converting business needs to solutions.
· Support our product operations with instrumentation and monitoring and respond to incidents.
We are looking for: · Technical Proficiency: Mastery in Python as well as complementary programming
languages, databases, and data processing frameworks.
· Big Data Technologies: Experience with platforms like Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
· Cloud Computing: Experience with Microsoft Azure Platform
· Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to adjust strategies based on changing
requirements.
· Attention to Detail: Precision in designing and managing data pipelines.
· Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated with industry trends.
· Capability to guide and mentor junior team members.
· Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to solve complex data infrastructure issues.
· A relevant university degree, preferably in software engineering or computer
science.
· Proficiency in English at a professional working level.
