Your mission The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a non-profit research institute based in Barcelona dedicated to advancing the understanding of leukemia and related disorders, in collaboration with the University of Barcelona and the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The IJC has laboratories in 5 clinical campuses: i) Hospital Clínic, ii) Hospital de Sant Pau and iii) Hospital Germans Trias Pujol iv) Hospital del Mar and v) Hospital Josep Trueta Girona. IJC serves as a collaborative center for basic researchers and physicians to work together on fundamental clinical and biological aspects of leukemia. The IJC offers an excellent work environment based on a multidisciplinary fusion of state-of-the-art ideas and facilities.   Dr. Manel Esteller is the Director of the Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute and the principal investigator of the Cancer Epigenetics Group, which is involved in the analysis of the type and mechanisms of epigenetic alterations in cancer cells, including aberrant changes in DNA methylation and histone modifications in cancer, study of the epigenetics machinery and associated mutations, and finally, testing of epigenetic drugs. Dr. Eva Musulén is a member of the Cancer Epigenetics Group with special interest in deep learning to identify new prognostic biomarkers in oncological diseases.    We are looking for a junior postdoctoral researcher in the field of Cancer Diagnosis and Cancer Inmuno-Biology to join Dr. Esteller's Cancer Epigenetics Group in collaboration with Dr. Eva Musulén. The scientist will be responsible for the identification and validation of digital biomarkers and diagnostic tools for cancer detection, as well as new the identification of mechanisms of cancer progression disease and new treatments, with an additional focus on epigenetically regulated genes. The scientist should be able to process data obtained from diagnostic algorithmic tools and high-throughput screening methods such as whole slide images, whole DNA genome, methylome and transcriptome sequencing, CHIP-seq, MeDIP-seq, high-density methylation, expression arrays.   The contract will be covered by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033 and European Union Next GenerationEU/PRTR (TED2021-131248B-I00 project). Your profile PhD in Biomedical Sciences or similar.  Excellent track record of publications (first authorship in high-impact journals). Experience in the identification and validation of biomarkers and cancer diagnosis is required. Experience in epigenetic research and related digital bioinformatics analysis is an important plus. Experience in genome-wide CRISPR, drug screenings and deep learning is also an important plus.  Experience in translational research is required.
