We are looking for a Scientific or Technical Associate Translation Specialist to join our talented translation team in Clarivate, Barcelona.
In this role, you will use your language skills in areas such as Life sciences, Pharma, Chemistry/Biomedical engineering, etc. to perform post-editing and proofreading of patent content from your working languages into English to ensure that the patent contains the most precise, pertinent, and up-to-date information.
About You – experience, education, skills, and accomplishments University degree in either translation or scientific or technological field (Eg. Engineering, Biochemistry, etc.) or in technical translation.Excellent read and written English and excellent read, spoken and written French or GermanExcellent knowledge of one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Italian or GermanGood data analysis skill (using Microsoft excel, Power BI and other data analysis tools)Up to 1 year of experience on similar roleIt would be great if you also had… Prior experience as a linguist using CAT toolsPrior experience in quality control.Excellent communication skills.Customer-driven approach and good business awareness.Visible "can do" approach to work and positive attitude to change.Detail-oriented, thorough, accurate, able to meet deadlines, and able to work quickly and steadily in a focused manner to achieve organizational goals.Demonstrate initiative, persistence, ability to problem solve, and enthusiasm for learning.Strong ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently with minimal supervision.What will you be doing in this role? Analyze machine translated weekly publications of patents to assess quality of the MT output.Review editorial suggestions applied to local translation dictionaries, approve valid suggestions and oversee updates to master dictionaries or translation memories.Manage customer cases and operational requests for translation enhancement, allocate retranslation/enhancement requests and manage any associated updates to the master dictionaries and translation memory.Provide data analysis and reporting from periodic quality benchmarking reviews.Provide analysis and feedback of quality assurance data to external vendors to drive continuous content improvement.Provide analysis and suggestions for process and content improvements as part of daily role or through participation in project teams.About the team You'll be reporting to the Operations Manager, IP Translation, based in BarcelonaYou'll be part of a global team of more than 20 colleaguesThe team culture is dynamic, creative, and supportive – excellence, integrity, and care are in our DNA.You'll have 40 annual paid hours of volunteering time and the chance of being part of an active volunteering community which promotes diversity and inclusion across the business.Hours of Work This is a permanent full-time position at 40 hours a week (35 hours during July and August).
