col-wideJob Description:Responsible for DL Precision Forging engineering related activities such as:- Forging technology roadmap definition and resources planning- Forging Capacity Planning- Investment Planning and governance aligned with Budget / 5 years Strategic Plan and DL Technology roadmap- Support NBA Q/S related ME activities with focus into sourcing- Forging lead interface to ENG GPPC's in the context of New products develoment- Global Forging Experts network- Leads the Precision Forging Center of Expertise/Excellence (CoE):- Sponsors strategic activities and major projects approved by the CoE.- Strategy:- Maintain strategic review and provide input to DL manufacturing strategy.- Maintain overview and advise on Precision forming capabilities and specific Business Continuity Risk.- Technology:- Lead the development of forging technology in DL, in relation to process and product evolution- Support via central and local design teams the forging development activities related to New products- Ensure development activities are adequately resourced and coordinated amongst forging sites- Create and sustain a robust Forging Experts Network across DL- Develop a DL methodology for AsFF toold design, including any dedicated IT tools or hardware.- All in all, step-up DL forging expertise to the forefront of the industry- Continuous improvement- Carry out benchmarking activities.- Sponsor Best Practice activities and definition.- Standardisation:- Ensure standard procedures are robust and appropriate.- Assist all members to ensure that standard procedures are adopted in the most efficient manner in all locations.- Promote and supply support and development to all CoE members in whatever form is required (e.g.).- Plant visits, multi-site project teams, results sharing, personnel placements, etc.- Issue of Health & Safety, Production & BPE.- Strategic and Performance Reviews (e.g.):- Review of benchmarking, (safety, load, productivity and risk statuses)- Review of sponsored projects, teams and activities, plus plan support reviews- Agreement on future activities- Sponsor and promote specific areas of activity within CoE, like:- Design Council: Research and Development, advice and support on design and Manufacturing Engineering matters (e.g. including internal developments / external developments and GPC liaison).- Tooling Council: Research and Development, advise and support on forging tool manufacturing matters- Maintenance Council: Advise and support on risk management, press and machine maintenance, and equipment breakdown matters.**Qualification and Skills****Formal Qualifications****_Essential _**- Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering**_Desirable- ****Specific Functional Capabilities, Knowledge and Skills Required****_Essential _**- Experience working with major automotive Tier I or OEM and have an in-depth understanding of GKN Driveline CVJ products, or, have worked as a process change leader in a corporate environment where technology products were delivered- Extensive knowledge of Forging processes- Experience in Forging Manufacturing Engineering Function for various years - Lead position- Demonstrated ability to promote changes in forging environments- Senior experience leading teams in forging environment- Widely recognised as a technical leader within forging community in DL**_Desirable- ****Language Skills (Highlight if Essential or Desired)**Local language - EssentialEnglish - Essential**Travel Requirements**Role is global in nature and will require international travel.
