We are seeking an Engineering Manager with an active oriented mindset and a focus on building a quality team and product. The Engineering Manager will report to the Head of Engineering and will be responsible for managing Engineers and Lead Engineers, driving accountability within their teams, and will be responsible for the output of their teams. They will work closely with engineering management to implement and optimize engineering processes and workflows, as well as help guide Engineers in personal development and growth.
To be successful as an Engineering Manager, the candidate should have interest in the industry trends, experience managing people, projects, or teams, and should have strong communication skills. The candidate should be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and should have strong emotional intelligence.
A day in the life... Action-mindset: the candidate has shown an ability to take ideas quickly and effectively act on them to make them a reality.Emotional intelligence: the candidate is able to easily relate to others, work with people of diverse backgrounds, is empathetic, humble, and a strong active listener.Long term planning: Will work with Engineering leadership, Operations Team, and Product Team to develop organizational objectives, goals, strategies, hiring plans, and roadmaps. Work with Engineering Management, Operations Team, and Product Team to develop and execute domain team objectives and strategies. Work with engineering leadership to implement and optimize team processesWork with Lead Engineers to hit key performance indicators, drive accountability, and ensure quality output. Communicate progress, roadblocks, concerns, and successes to engineering management. Provide regular feedback to engineers on their team and provide input to management for formal performance reviews.Assist and hiring and onboarding process for engineering teamsHelp team members to develop and execute their personal growth goals. Work with Engineering Leadership and the Site Reliability Team to ensure compliance with security regulations and certifications. Coordinate with external stakeholders for new integrations and tools.Assist team leaders in organizing and managing projects, making detailed plans that work towards the fulfillment of roadmap and company objectives. Assist team leaders in managing software development projects by setting requirements, goals and timelines. Experience & Qualifications Strong experience delivering projects / products to a large user base.Either a Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or in a related field, or 4+ years industry experience as a contributor and managerExperience with project management tools such as Jira (or similar). Should have several years experience and be comfortable working with the following technologies: Application Languages and Technologies: NodeJS, React, RabbitMQ, SOAP and Rest based APIs, JVM based languages, Kaka and ELK Stack (Elastic Stack).Data Storage and Related Technologies: PostgreSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch and Druid / Superset Infrastructure and Related Technologies: Docker and Docker Compose, Mesos / Marathon / Sensu go (or similar technologies), AWS / Azure, OpenVPN, Vault, HAProxy LDAP and PGBouncerKnowledge and experience in the travel industry is a plus.Work Perks! - What's in it for you: FCTG is renowned internationally for having amazing perks and an even better culture.
