SQL Server DBA – CONTRACT OR PERM The DBA's primary role is to support and maintain the Company's databases, provide technical direction, and security governance over data.
Other responsibilities include Database operational management, High Availability, installs/Upgrades, Data Migrations, troubleshooting database related incidents and performance issues, database monitoring and operational management of Database Infrastructure Technologies deployed at Company.
This position will join a team responsible for core infrastructure services for, compute, storage, Database, telecom, network and security operations
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES A minimum of 7 years combined rich work experience in MS SQL Server 2022,2019, 2017, 2016 versions.Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.Hands-on in MS SQL Server database backup and recovery.Strong working experience with High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server such as Always On availability groups, Log Shipping, Transactional Replication, Windows Server Failover Clustering etc.Must be very hands-on with MS SQL Server database upgrades, SQL Server patching and testing all aspects of database refreshes etc.Solid hands-on in writing SQL statements (Structured Query Language).Strong T-SQL database programming and Windows PowerShell scripting skills.Ability to work with cross-functional team members with other IT groups Infrastructure Services, Information Security, Network and Application in articulating and convincing MS SQL Server requirements.Ready to participate in the DBA team on-CALL support rotationManage and operate large scale critical production database systemsProvide direct operational support across all areas of the production database infrastructure including high availability, database replication.Install and configure database servers (MS SQL 2016+) using various high availability technologies such as Availability Groups and Failover Cluster Instances.Perform capacity planning, performance turning, monitoring, troubleshooting, patching and optimization of the databases.Develop automation of the database processes, tasks, and procedures.Follow operational policies and processes that are compliant with ITIL standards. Participate in change control procedures.Provide root cause analysis and/or proactively provide recommendations to prevent issues from surfacingMust have strong hands on experience in troubleshooting SQL Server performance related issues like CPU, Memory, DISK IO, Deadlocks, BlockingsLocking's, Query tuning – Slowlong running queries and so onMust have technical knowledge and experience on Windows OS platform from 2008 to 2019Must have hands-on experience on Import & Export, Backup & Recovery, Database maintenance plans like Indexing, Statistics and Database Integrity tasksManage related monitoring and alerting tools – PowerShell scripts, Redgate, logic monitorEnsure that all of the above comply with the appropriate corporate policies (i.e.: Security, Operations, Incident and Change Management, System Development Life Cycle)Document technical requirements, justification, recommendations to maintain standard Operating procedures (SOP's)QUALIFICATIONS Experience Minimum 5-10 years of SQL Server Database Administration Minimum 2-4 years Microsoft Azure and/or AWS Solutions Education Degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent Industry certifications in one or more of the following:Microsoft – MCSE Server Infrastructure certificationITIL Certified If you have the required experience, please forward a MS Word copy of your resume along with your years of work experience with: SQL Server DBA (?
