With close to 50 economists and 200 economics and government reporters worldwide, Bloomberg has an outstanding capacity to explain where the global economy and geopolitics are now, where they might be heading, and the ways in which the forces interact.

Bloomberg Economics offers a comprehensive macroeconomic research service for Terminal subscribers. That includes detailed forecasts, supported by thorough and original thematic research. The economists also produce previews of major data releases and economic events as well as analysis of the numbers as they break. The goal is to offer Bloomberg clients a deeper insight into the themes that drive policy, financial markets and capital flows.

We're seeking a quantitative analyst with experience building front-end Python visualizations to support economic or financial research. This person could be based in London, Madrid or Frankfurt.

The role:The successful candidate will work with Bloomberg's modeling economists to bring research to life with client-facing visualizations and tools.

Sleek charts, feature-rich analytics and user-friendly design will be the public face of your work.Behind the scenes, you'll build pipelines to organize data and automate analysis to feed these visualizations.You'll also have opportunities to lead high-priority research, either in collaboration with colleagues or independently with experience.We'll measure success by the quality of product, the efficiency of development, and your overall contribution to the broader research team.We'll trust you to:Build fast, innovative, compelling Python visualizations.Support economists in preparing model outputs and other data for publication.Play an active role in product development and client engagement.Provide ad hoc analytical support to high-priority research.You'll need to have:5+ years of experience in a team responsible for economic or financial analysisDemonstrable proficiency with Python data analysis and visualization librariesKnowledge of SQL or a keen interest to learnStrong communications skills in EnglishEnergy and the initiative to manage simultaneous projects on deadline.We'd love to see:Familiarity with Bloomberg's BQuant environment and the IPyWidgets libraryExperience with other Python dashboarding libraries and/or PowerBIAdvanced Python capabilities in areas such as web scraping or machine learningA passion for innovation in both analysis and designExperience generating insights from alternative, unstructured dataExperience bringing complex models into production.Bloomberg is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our company.
