Coordinator, Safety & Environmental Programs As the Safety, Health, and Environmental Coordinator, you will provide technical insight and ensure compliance to safety and environmental regulations, standards, and license requirements for Cameco's Fuel Manufacturing (CFM) facilities in Port Hope and Cobourg. CFM's key regulatory oversight is provided by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) as well as the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC). The position will be reporting to the Superintendent, Safety, Health, and Environment.
Position and Responsibilities This position will be responsible for the following:
Safety and Health: Maintaining primary documentation, effectiveness oversight and program improvement of the following conventional health and safety programs : Fire safety including Fire Safety Plans, Fire Protection Programs and routine compliance audits Pressure Retaining Components Material Handling including Hoisting and Rigging and Fall Arrests Electrical Safety and Control of Hazardous Energy Confined Space Hazardous Substances Industrial Hygiene Tools and Machinery Ergonomics Providing support to the worker safety committees and injury management programs. Conducting inspections of work areas for safety and industrial hygiene practices, ensuring hazards are identified and controlled. Completing assessments for contractor management, PPE, ergonomics, hazardous substance approvals, chemical inventory and storage. Assist with assessments and testing of safety equipment and instruments. Assist with industrial hygiene studies. Deliver safety program training as required. Provide visibility to the safety processes by interacting with employees on a regular basis. Providing Environmental Subject Matter Expertise for change projects. Supporting/Leading ISO 14001 and O. Reg 102 initiatives. Supporting Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks (MECP) Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) and Environmental Activity Sector Registry (EASR) for CFM's two facilities. Collecting and reporting annual environmental data in support of regulatory requirements. Providing support on environmental uranium emissions monitoring. General: Provide subject matter expertise for safety, health, and environment improvement projects. Oversee safety and environmental internal and external audits by acting as site lead, coordinating audits, and dispositioning findings. Provide visible support of safety programs through leadership field presence. Education and Qualifications Requirements of the position:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills that support effective communicationand relationship building toenable of all levels of the organization. Strong organizational and self-managing skills to prioritize and progress sometimes ambiguous site actions/initiatives into the creation of specific action plans and subsequent progress reporting. Strong computer skills in a combination of MS Office, Excel, Word, Sharepoint, and Powerpoint. Assets:
Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, or Occupational Health and Safety. 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with National and Ontario Fire and Building Codes. Familiarity with CSA N393 "Fire Protection for Facilities that Process, Handle, or Store Nuclear Substances". Familiarity with Workplace Safety Insurance Board (WSIB) and injury management. Familiarity with uranium emissions or other radiation protection programs. Knowledge of Causal Analysis Tools. Competition number: CFM 24 - 20
