Working closely with the local leadership team, the legal counsel will support all of the affiliate's activities in relation to Market Access, Commercial and Medical activities, Research & Development, Distribution & Supply Chain, Government Affairs, Regulatory, PV and Quality, and will provide corporate secretarial support to the affiliate. In addition, the role will support one of Alexion International's Therapeutic Areas (Hematology / Nephrology, Neurology, Meta+, NF1). This role requires a broad range of experience and a desire to provide solutions-oriented advice across a complex and evolving organization. The role reports into the Head of Legal, International.You will be responsible for:Monitoring and advising on local healthcare laws and regulations, regarding both commercialized products and research and development activities; proactively guiding and counselling key stakeholders on the business impact of local legislative developmentsAdvising local leadership on pricing and market access issues, including evaluating the company's local pricing strategies and supporting negotiations with payers for the launch of new products / indications and the renegotiation of existing termsSupporting the affiliate's transition into a competitive environment by advising on local competition / antitrust and public procurement law risksBeing accountable for corporate secretarial support to the affiliate (with support from paralegal and/or external legal resources)Driving the company's position and outside counsel engagement in litigation before the local courtsIn support of an International Therapeutic Area, advising on the marketing strategy and core product claims for new product / indication launches, as well as identifying and mitigating any legal risks of innovative projects driven by the International regional HQSupporting broader Legal department initiatives such as contract processes and automation, drafting, updating, or advising on policies and procedures, or the creation or updating of guidance and training for the businessYou will need to have:5+ years' experience as a practicing lawyer, with at least 3 years' experience advising the pharmaceutical/biotech industry whether in-house or at a law firmA strong ability to work autonomously, being the sole legal counsel based in the Alexion affiliate in SpainDemonstrated integrity and judgment.Strong communications skills, verbal and written.Native Spanish speaker: professional fluency in English including strong ability to draft documents, communicate and deliver presentations.Solutions-oriented mindset; ability to influence and persuade.We would prefer for you to have:A Collaborative style and track record of building strong working relationships and working with different personality types.A positive outlook and commitment to supporting business teamsEstablished leadership skills, within business project and process teams and/or within law departmentsExperience supporting and/or being a member of business leadership teamsExperience working in an international team, and/or in a matrixed environmentAstraZeneca completed its acquisition of Alexion, marking the creation of Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease.
