A vacancy for a Space Systems Optical Performance Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Madrid (Barajas). The successful applicant will join the Chief and System Engineering Department of Airbus in Madrid.The selected system performances engineer will be responsible of system performances of a satellite optical mission. He will review instrument performances and complement when applicable with platform performances in order to provide to customer the status of requested system performances and work on the fulfillment on them.The selected engineer will benefit of working together in close relation with other Chief Engineers colleagues but also with other disciplines as FA, MTP, electrical and that will widen the satellite system view.Tasks & accountabilitiesYour main tasks and responsibilities will include:Critically review instrument performances and incorporate platform performances for all image quality requirements.Ensure system performances will be fulfilled according with both platform and instrument designsConsolidate allocation budgets for each system performances.Keep updated the system performance during program developmentTechnically support to OPSI (simulator and ground processing) development for achieving the system performancesCritical review of ground processor algorithms provided by subcontractors to ensure requirements achievementContribute for calibration and monitoring plans (including IOT activities)Elaborate technical documentation, deliver technical presentations, and contribute to technical proposals.Support the project technical reviews, and technically lead reviews to ground processor suppliers.Work in close collaboration with other engineering disciplines (e.G. mission analysis, mechanical, AOCS) involved in the system development throughout the whole lifecycle.Required skillsEducated to degree level in Aerospace or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.Proven professional experience required [5-10 years] in:Space system projectsSystem performances of optical satellitesOptical instrument performanceImage quality ground processingExperience in requirements management with DOORS.Programming experience in Matlab/SimulinkEnglish advanced level.Spanish advanced level.At Airbus, we support you to work, connect and collaborate more easily and flexibly.
