A vacancy for a Space Systems Optical Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence & Space in Madrid (Barajas). The successful applicant will join the EOS Chief Engineering Spain group at Airbus in Madrid.The selected systems optical engineer will be responsible for the coordination of the system engineering activities related to development and performance of satellite optical missions, with a focus on the payload.He/She will follow the development of optical instruments and related performances from the satellite prime contractor team in order to ensure the end to end mission performance.The selected engineer will benefit from working together in close relation with other Chief Engineers but also in close proximity with other disciplines such as Functional Avionics, Mechanical/Thermal/Propulsion, Electrical, allowing to widen the satellite system view.RESPONSIBILITIESYour main tasks and responsibilities will include:Critically review instrument development and performances for all instrument requirementsAssess instrument technology maturity level and development roadmaps, from an overall system viewEnsure optical and system performances will be fulfilled according with both platform and instrument designsCritically flow down mission requirements, generating payload specifications in coordination with satellite and platform requirementsConsolidate allocation budgets for each system performancesKeep updated the instrument requirement fulfillment during program developmentContribute for calibration and monitoring plans (including IOT activities)Elaborate technical documentation, deliver technical presentations, and contribute to technical proposalsCritically evaluate maturity of suppliers, both for on-going projects as well as for future opportunities (studies, proposals and partnering)Support the project technical reviews, in the optical field.Work in close collaboration with other engineering disciplines (e.g. mission analysis, mechanical, AOCS) involved in the system development throughout the whole lifecycle, especially concerning allocation of requirements, budgets and the interactions with the payloadSKILLSEducated to degree level in Aerospace or Electrical/Electronics Engineering.Proven professional experience required [5-10 years] in:Space system projectsSystem performances and development of optical satellites and payloadsSpace Optical instrument knowledgeTechnology maturisation for optical payloads and missionsExperience in requirements management with DOORSProgramming experience in Matlab/SimulinkEnglish advanced level.Spanish advanced level.At Airbus, we support you to work, connect and collaborate more easily and flexibly.
