Your mission The Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute (IJC) is a nonprofit research institute based in Barcelona and dedicated to advancing our understanding about leukaemia and related disorders, in partnership with the University of Barcelona and University Autònoma of Barcelona. The IJC has laboratories in three clinical campuses: i) Clinic Hospital, ii) Sant Pau Hospital and iii) Germans Trias i Pujol Hospital. IJC serves as a collaborative hub for basic investigators and physicians to work together on fundamental biological and clinical aspects of leukaemia. The Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute Can Ruti is looking for a Laboratory Assistant Trainee for the Myelodysplastic syndromes. The contract is part of the research project no. HR22-00732 funded by "la Caixa" Foundation. Research Description Our research focuses on unraveling the heterogeneity of myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), mainly using genomic techniques. We study MDS patients who harbor a specific cytogenetic alteration: the deletion of the long arm of chromosome 5. Our aim is to improve the genetic characterization of these patients by studying the impact of adjunct cytogenetic abnormalities on their prognostic stratification; how cytogenetics and mutations can influence the response to lenalidomide treatment; the molecular landscape of MDS through next-generation sequencing techniques; and, finally, intratumoral heterogeneity before and after lenalidomide treatment using single-cell techniques. Main Responsibilities Sample reception and registration. Sample processing: samples from peripheral blood and bone marrow to cryopreserve. Manage reagents and material stocks in the laboratory. Extraction of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) NGS techniques Sample preparation for NGS studies and other genomic techniques. Report writing. Data analysis and interpretation. Project and experimental design. Your profile Educational background in biology or a related field (training cycle or higher degree). Excellent organizational, management, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to teamwork in a dynamic environment and to handle varying workloads. Responsible, proactive, and self-motivated, able to work with a high degree of autonomy. Experience working with molecular biology techniques.DNA, RNA extraction, PCR technique.
